In the battlefield of Kurushetra, Arjun got confused. Despite being one of the most powerful warriors of his time, at the time of battle he lost his composure. He was ready to live the life of a beggar instead of carrying out his duties. At such time, he was bestowed with the time-immaterial knowledge of Bhagwat Gita, by the Lord Krishna himself. And later, he emerged victorious with his name marked permanently in the history of Sanatana Dharma.
Now if Arjuna, who already had the knowledge of Vedic scriptures and was sinless (known as Anagha orअनघ), got confused at the time of delivering his utmost duty, fight for Dharma and the will of Lord Krishna, what can we speculate about our youth today? The ‘modern’ youth of today requires the most help in our society. Firstly, they have sparse knowledge of our Vedic scriptures and duties. Secondly, they are surrounded with distractions all around round the clock. And to add to their misery, the current society and education system of the Kaliyug has somehowmanaged to ‘commercialize’ moral values. This has made our youth truly vulnerable. Adjectives such as confused, depressed, stressed, anxious fall short to describe the status.
To address this specific situation of our youth today, we have established a separate channel for them. Our ‘ISKCON Youth Forum’ aims to impart the timeless knowledge of Bhagwat Gita to our energetic youth. This forum delivers the knowledge in the form of a systematic and scientific courses. Few of such courses are:
- A Seven Day Discover Yourself Program
- A Two Month Learn Gita Live Gita course
- Bhagwat Gita Comprehensive Course
Speakers for these courses will include:
- HG Madhusudan Mukund Das (MBA IIT Kanpur)
- HG SarvatmaShyam Das (MTech IIT Kanpur)
- HG SarvagyaGauranga Das (MTech IIT Kanpur)
ISKCON Ranchi has also set Bhaktivedanta Academy for Culture & Education (BACE) to support and facilitate the youth to practice the principles of Bhagwat Gita alongside their studies. Students staying at BACE get up early, do mantra meditation, hear Bhagwat Gita as part of their morning routine. Then they go to their respective schools/colleges/offices. They take food offered to the Lord and in the evening they all read Bhagwat Gita, do congregational chanting of the holy names and go to bed early.
ISKCON Ranchi has also started reaching out to students in schools and colleges in large scale through programs such as BALA Drishti and YUVA Drishti. In these programs, devotees go to schools and colleges presenting the science of Bhagwat Gita in the form of one day seminars, workshops etc. We have started Discover Yourself sessions for employees in companies as well.
